A day with Daddy!

Kelby had to leave on a trip Monday night so he had all day Monday off. Every other Monday, Davitas Gymnastics opens up their gym to my MOPS group so the kids can play and moms can fellowship with each other. Well, I usually end up chasing Haley all around the gym making sure she doesn't get into trouble. She's not afraid to try anything so I have to keep a close eye on her. Kelby went with us Monday, and Haley loved having Daddy there to play with her. He loved it too. He even got to jump on the trampolines a little!

Monday evening, we took Haley to the mall to see Santa. She did fine standing in line until it was time to sit in Santa's lap. As you can see by the pictures, Santa was not her friend this year! The only thing she liked about Santa was waving goodbye to him.

Christmas Time

I cannot believe it is Christmas time. In addition, I cannot believe Haley just turned 18 months old. She is growing so much! She is totally getting an imagination and playing by herself. She is really enjoying books now. I never thought she would actually sit still long enough to read books, but she will sit down for a little while and look at her books. She is still very picky about what books she likes to read. Right now she is interested in "Farm Animals," "Good Night Moon," and a book about Tweety bird.

She is learning a lot about discipline and respecting Momma and Daddy. She is learning, and some days are easier then others. :) I figure the earlier we start, the better off we'll be.

This is a video of Haley watching Barney just before bath time. That is why she is just in her diaper. She has learned how to take her shirt off so I let her right before bath time. I promised myself after babysitting for so many years that my child would never watch Barney. Well, never say never because Haley loves Barney! It's because of all the music. She just loves music. This momma will do anything to make car riding a more pleasant experience for the both of us so Barney helps that situation out! I guess I have to thank Barney.

Cotton Ride

Haley experienced her first Mayesville Cotton Ride this weekend. Every year, the church has a fall cotton ride instead of a hay ride. This time of year in Mayesville, cotton is EVERYWHERE! The streets look like snow, and the cotton gin runs all the time! The cotton ride is so fun!

I am loving getting to re-live some of my many childhood memories with Haley. I love being able to show her where I grew up and things that we did together. My home church family is so special to me, and they all hold a special place in my heart. They all played a part in who I am as a Christian woman, and I pray Haley will have people like that in her life as she grows up.

The Reason for my last title

I just realized I named my last title what I meant to name this title. :) "Oklahoma where the wind goes sweeping down the plain" does have a meaning with this post. The Hagerlas are moving to Oklahoma!! Kelby will be instructing pilots at Altus AFB. We are supposed to move in May unless the Air Force comes back and tells us otherwise. We will get our official orders in a month or so. I am not excited to leave Charleston. However, I am very excited about the fact that Kelby will actually be HOME all the time. He will have weekends off and holidays. We don't even know what that's like! We really wanted to go to Colorado, but it was not open. Altus, OK is a very small town near the Texas border on the southwest side of Oklahoma.

Now, we have a lot to think about between now and then. Questions going through my head are: Can we sell our house? Will we buy in OK, rent, or live on base? What will I do without my family close? I am really going to miss my family. I have always had it in my mind that I would move away, but it's still going to be sad that my family will be so far away. On a good note, Kelby's parents will be closer. They are now a 17 hour drive. Now, they will be only 12 hours away. We are happy about that!

Well it's been a while since I updated the blog. We have been busy. One of my best friends from home Elizabeth Ann (aka EA) came to visit. Haley loves EA! I taught EA how to play the guitar when we were young so we played together just like old times. It was great!

We then went to Mayesville to visit my mom and dad and sick grandmother. While we were there, my grandmother (aka Mommie) got worse and passed away. We were all relieved that she was finally out of pain and with Jesus! We are very thankful for her and her Christian example she made in our lives! She will be missed.

This weekend, we traveled to Greenville to help celebrate my nephew Porter's 1st birthday. We had a lot of fun, and I think he really enjoyed his cake! Haley was not sure why Porter was getting to eat the cake and not her. We did let her have a little after he had his turn.

We are finally back in South Carolina! We are so happy to be home. We had a great time in Missouri, but there is definitely no place like home! We got home on Tuesday, and Nana and Aunt Maria and Porter came to visit over the weekend. I was so happy to see them! I cannot believe how big my nephew Porter has gotten. Haley is still not sure why he cannot walk yet. She even tried to hold is hand and help him walk. Right before we left this summer, we bought Haley a swing set. She is now really enjoying playing on it and has figured out how to climb up the stairs and go down the slide.

Haley is loving it here on the farm! She goes out and works with Grandma every day! She is learning so much about gardening, farming, and animals. She is fascinated with horses right now. There is a horse down the road that we ride the four wheeler to every day! She is learning new words every day. Her favorite words right now are bubbles and making horse sounds. She also is learning how to sing a tune by going "ba a a a a a." It's really cute! Kelby just finished his training today in Altus and will get here tomorrow. We are so excited to see him! I believe he is more excited to be done and out of Altus! Here are some photos and video I wanted to share with you!

MO State Fair

Kent, Debbie, Haley, and I decided to go to the MO State Fair on Thursday and Friday. We drove to Sedalia, MO and spent two nights in a hotel while we went to the fair each day. It was really fun. Midwest fairs are very different then the ones in the south. They are very big, and they have many more animals, shows, and farm equipment. Haley had a fabulous time! She is now totally in love with animals! We went to the petting zoo, and she was not afraid AT ALL to touch any animal. As you can see from the pictures, she even got a chance to feed some of them too! Here are a few pictures from our trip!
